Overview:
An immunoglobulin (Ig) binding protein, Protein L is present on the surface of bacteria and is secreted into the extracellular environment where it can bind the light chain antibody of the host (1). Protein L can bind to a wide range of antibody classes through kappa light chain interactions including IgG, IgM, IgA, IgE and IgD (2). Since no part of the antibody heavy chain is involved in the binding interaction Protein L binding does not interfere with the antibody’s antigen-binding site (3). Overall, protein L can be used as an immunological reagent in a broad range of studies that involve detection of antibody-secreting cells (4).
Formulation:
Recombinant protein stored in 50mM sodium phosphate, pH 7.5, 300mM NaCl, 200mM imidazole, 1mM DTT, 10% glycerol.
Storage and Stability:
Store product at –70oC. For optimal storage, aliquot target into smaller quantities after centrifugation and store at recommended temperature. For most favorable performance, avoid repeated handling and multiple freeze/thaw cycles.
